Hey there! Hope to see in Colorado!

I’m the guy over there — the one putting this thing together. I’ve been writing for over ten years, about half of which as a full-time fiction author.

love teaching and coaching, and collaborating with other like-minded authors. I want to start something profound, something you want to come back to year after year.

Let me know if you have questions (that’s my personal # and email below), and I’ll respond.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's up with the beds?

The Write More Workshop will take place in a beautiful, picturesque home or cabin. As such, we are limited to what’s available for those dates, and will sleep in the included bedrooms.

We will be able to comfortably accomodate 10+ writers, but we’ll have to share rooms. Usually that means a couple of full, queen, or king-sized beds in a single room, but sometimes it means two twin-sized bunk beds in a room.

If it doesn’t matter to you, just choose the cheaper option! You’ll have a bed, and you’ll be comfortable (we promise).

How do I get there?

You can fly into Colorado Springs Municipal Airport. Southwest Airlines flies here, and those are often the cheapest flights.

Once here, you can either take an Uber/Lyft to the cabin/house, or arrange a rideshare with another attendee (we’ll make sure everyone’s in the loop for communication), or arrange another ride.

What if I need to cancel?

Stuff happens — we get it. If you need to back out frown, just let us know. We’ll refund your attendance fee, no questions asked, according to the following schedule:

  • Before June 17, 2023: full refund
  • Before July 17, 2023: 1/2 refund (of total amount due)
  • After July 17, we unfortunately cannot refund your attendance, as it will be used to book and pay for the lodging, accomodations, arrangements, and supplies.

If there’s ever a question or concern, just reach out!

How is this different from a conference/writer's retreat?

There are a few major differences. First, this is a writing intensive — that means we’ll be spending a lot of time “in class:” learning, practicing, experiencing. Second, we wanted to combine the best of what conferences and conventions offer with the best of what retreats and getaways offer.

As such, we’ll have structured classes and sessions, full of practical and useful training. No “sponsored announcements,” no promotional breaks, no guest speakers trying to sell something. It’s all advice, tricks, tips, best practices, and help.

But all work and no play makes a boring trip, so we’re doing this in a new style: a very intimate, one-house environment. Everyone will live, work, write, eat, and play together (as much as you’re comfortable!). We’ll work in scheduled breaks, hangout sessions, and personal writing sprint time to ensure you actually have time to put to use what you learn here.

Finally, this will be a hand-picked group. We want to make sure we’re all mostly on the same page and same level, so we can best share strategy that’s actually useful to all of us. We also want to make sure there aren’t any, ahem, personality issues, to worry about.

The goal is to create an environment of insanely productive learning, teaching, and practicing, and then fill it with people who want exactly that.

What can I expect to learn?

We’re still putting the exact schedule together, and when we do we’ll send it out.

For now, you can expect very deep dives into:

  • The craft of genre fiction (structuring a novel that actually sells)
  • Marketing from the inside out — writing the marketing into your books
  • Current best practices for gaining new readers
  • How to write fast (without sacrificing quality)
  • New strategies for finding and building readership
  • …And more!
What genre(s) is this for?

The Write More Workshop is targeted specifically at genre fiction — that is, the sort of fiction that’s written to be fun, artistic, and sell.

We want authors who write novels in any genre that’s represented on Amazon, not including literary fiction, nonfiction, memoir, poetry, short stories, and travel guides.

Basically, we’re going to be talking about fiction that falls into a subcategory of one of these:

  • Mystery/Thriller/Suspense
  • Science Fiction
  • Fantasy
  • Romance
  • …etc.
What if I need something else?

Easy! Just shoot Nick a text or email, and we’ll get on it. Whether it’s dietary restrictions, sleeping preferences, or something else — we want to make this as enjoyable and comfortable as possible.

His contact information is below (please don’t share it outside this group)!
